• Petroleum Refining: Of the petroleum gas collected, 95% of it is processed through the compressor before transporting to a pipeline. The process can boost the gas’ pressure to promote catalytic reactions, which can accelerate the refining process.
• Petrochemical Synthesis: Low-density petrochemicals like methanol, ammonia, urea, ethylene, and ethylene glycol require specific air and gas pressurization in the manufacturing process.
• Pipeline transportation: Moving gas and oil through pipelines requires compressors to maintain or boost gas flow into the pipeline system. Since reservoir pressure and normal flow decrease gradually over time, compressors are used to keep gas flowing.
• Gas injection: Air compressors can be used to inject gas into oil layers to increase and maintain reservoir pressures, which help facilitate the recovery of crude oil. Air injection is used for transporting liquids, tank pressurization, cooling, plastic moldings, and the synthesis of various petrochemicals.
